Fun Facts About Nestle's
 
  • The dog Farfl started life as one of the "dummies" for ventrioquiest, Jimmy Nelson. He later starred in his own commercials featuring Nestle's products.
  • In its heyday, Nestle employed about 1500 people. Many were from previous generations of employees.
  • Swiss Hans was another figure used in advertising. He had quite a following for some time.
  • When a new recipe for chocolate was tried, it was put in blank tins and then given out to employees to see what they though. (Nice job to have!)
  • The plant in Fulton was the very first Nestle plant in the U.S.
  • The claim to fame was the Nestle Crunch Bar. It was ONLY made at the Fulton plant until its closure in 2003.

OUR MISSION
The organization, established in 1979, is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Fulton and the adjacent towns of Granby and Volney.  This mission will be approached in the following ways:
1.  Acquire and preserve significant artifacts, publications, and other archival material of local interest.
2.  Maintain as much of the historical integrity of the Pratt House as possible, while leaving space for historical exhibits.
3.  Provide historical and genealogical resources for researchers and interested members of the general public.
4.  Develop and provide community outreach programs.
